My husband is wonderful. If you have read anything I have ever written you probably already know this. I have to say it again though, because...well... it's true.
This time however, I really did mean it. Especially since the last bedside table he painted ended up smelling up the entire house when he stripped off the old varnish. I have never seen this happen but our house smelled horrible for days, like old - very old - socks. We thought we were going to have to get rid of the table but suddenly it faded. thankfully! (the table is very sweet).
So this time I meant it. I would paint the doll cradle.
I found this *potentially* adorable cradle on ebay for £5. Such a find made my scrounger self seriously happy, but the pale, varnished, woody colour had to go.
I promised to paint it, I intended on painting it myself....
But I didn't of course. My husband spent three tedious evenings sanding and painting several coats; each rung lovingly painted for our precious girls to rock their precious dollies.
And yes, it is beautiful!
I did make the bedding; a little mattress, pillow, quilt and crocheted blanket.
I wrapped it awkwardly in left over wrapping paper Christmas Eve and early the next morning we couldn't have been happier. The girls love it and I love it. It is much better this way.
Paint is amazing but my husband is an absolute gem!
